Elk Rut & Blueridge Parkway

September 30th - October 3rd , 2021,

Maggie Valley, N.C.

Instructors - Tom Croce

Join me in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains for three days of photographing elk in the Cataloochee Valley and landscapes along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The weather is always a determining factor in the exact schedule, but a tentatively we will plan on spending one or two evenings along the Blue Ridge Parkway, weather permitting we may do some night photography. We will spend mornings in Cataloochee Valley Photographing the Elk rut.

In order to insure the maximum amount of personal attention the number of participants for this workshop is limited to 6. Participants should have a strong understanding of exposure and know how to operate your camera. Each day's schedule will vary depending on the weather, but in general we will be photographing all day. This will be hands on learning and all questions and issues will be addressed in the field.

General Itinerary - Plan to arrive on September 30th in Maggie Valley in time to meet at 4:00 PM.  We will meet for a quick dinner, Q&A, and orientation, and we will head out for a sunset along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will spend our mornings and evenings shooting the elk in The Cataloochee Valley and along the Oconaluftee River, where we will get there early to shoot the elk and then spend the morning exploring the landscape and rustic structures. Depending on the conditions we may head to one of several locations along the Blue Ridge Parkway for sunrise or sunset.

The fee for this workshop is $500.00 and is for instruction only. All other expenses, including travel, accommodations and meals are the responsibility of the participants. Payment is required to reserve your spot.

Additional information on the location, preparing for the weather, required hiking equipment, and suggested camera gear will be e-mailed to all registered participants in August.
